From January 2025, Student Visa Applicants in Australia Must Provide a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)
Starting from January 1, 2025, the Department of Home Affairs will no longer accept Letters of Offer (LOA) for Student Visa applications lodged in Australia. Instead, onshore applicants will be required to provide a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) at the time of application.
Why the Change? This change aims to align the requirements for both onshore and offshore Student Visa applicants, ensuring a stronger commitment from students to their chosen course of study. By requiring a CoE, the Australian government seeks to increase certainty for the country’s international education sector.
Impact on Current Visa Holders: If you are currently in Australia on a visa and intend to study, you must ensure that you maintain a lawful status. If your current visa expires before you can obtain a CoE, you may need to depart Australia or explore other visa options. Please note that there are restrictions on applying for a Student Visa while in Australia on certain visas.
