UK Tightens Visa Rules for Indian Students and Workers

London, UK: The UK government has announced stricter financial requirements for Indian students and workers seeking visas to study or work in the country. Starting January 2025, individuals from India will need to demonstrate significantly higher financial reserves than the current guidelines.

Increased Financial Thresholds:

  • Students: International students will need to prove they have sufficient funds to cover living expenses, with higher amounts for courses in London.
  • Skilled Workers: First-time skilled worker applicants must demonstrate a higher income or sufficient funds to cover living expenses and accommodation.

Other Changes:

  • Visa Fees: There will be a slight increase in visa fees across multiple categories.
  • 28-Day Rule: Applicants must ensure the required funds remain in their account for at least 28 consecutive days before submitting their visa application.

These changes are part of the UK government’s broader immigration policy, aimed at addressing concerns about the impact of immigration on housing and the economy. Prospective students and workers from India should be aware of these new requirements and plan accordingly.
