This paints a very worrisome picture, no?

Now, Mr. Trudeau’s government claims these measures are needed to tackle issues like the housing crisis and inflation back home. They’re saying reducing the number of permanent residents from 500,000 to 395,000 will help ease the burden on infrastructure and keep the economy stable. But one must ask, is this truly the best way? The long-term effects of such a drastic move are questionable, to say the least.

Of course, one understands the need to manage internal challenges, but this sudden change in policy throws a spanner in the works for many. The impact on Indian students, who are pouring their hearts and their families’ hard-earned money into their Canadian education, is particularly harsh. This visa uncertainty is causing havoc with their academic plans and creating immense financial stress for families who have sacrificed so much.

And what about the skilled workers from India who are looking to contribute to Canada’s growth? This narrowing of the path for temporary foreign workers could have serious repercussions on the economy. By restricting the flow of skilled labor, they risk worsening shortages in critical areas like healthcare, IT, and construction. This will surely hamper Canada’s progress and its ability to compete globally. It’s a real problem.

These proposed measures to further reduce international student permits and limit work permits for spouses – it all seems a bit much, doesn’t it? Reducing the percentage of temporary residents from 6.8% to 5% – it feels like they’ve just picked a number out of thin air! This could have serious, unintended consequences on the very fabric of Canadian society.

While the Canadian government’s desire to manage population growth and maintain a stable economy is understandable, this current approach is like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. It’s causing a lot of unnecessary hardship. They need a more thoughtful, balanced approach, one that recognizes the immense contributions of international students and workers who have played such a crucial role in building Canada’s success.
